Tragic Plane Crash Claims Life of Vintage Aircraft Pilot at Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday when Brian Coughlin, a resident of Cazenovia, Madison County, New York, lost his life in a plane crash while operating a vintage aircraft near the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. The news was shared on the museum’s Facebook page, detailing that Coughlin was flying a replica of a World War I Fokker D-VIII during a routine Saturday Air Show when the aircraft went down near the south end of the runway.

Coughlin was a dedicated volunteer and board member at the aerodrome, contributing significantly to the airfield’s operations for many years. The State Police did not provide further details regarding the ongoing investigation.

The museum, which hosts regular air exhibitions of historic aircraft, confirmed that they had notified the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about the incident. They have stated that no further information will be released until the investigation is concluded.
