John Robert Sands Accident: A tragic two-vehicle crash on the morning of Tuesday, October 15, claimed the life of 75-year-old John Robert Sands from Big Lake, Minnesota, just south of St. Cloud. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. on eastbound Highway 10 near mile marker 179 in Sherburne County, as reported by the Minnesota State Patrol. Sands was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala westbound when he attempted to make a left turn onto Lincoln Avenue SE, colliding with a 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 traveling eastbound.

The Dodge Ram was operated by 48-year-old Kevin James Lenzen of St. Cloud. Despite the airbags deploying in both vehicles and both drivers wearing seat belts, Sands tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Lenzen sustained injuries as well but did not require hospitalization for his non-life-threatening conditions. First responders from the St. Cloud police and fire departments, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, and Mayo Ambulance Services were dispatched to assist.
