Leland Taylor, 38, has been identified by the Lubbock Police Department (LPD) as the victim of a tragic crash that occurred early on Wednesday morning, October 16, 2024.

According to LPD, police were alerted to a collision involving a car and a pickup truck at 2:11 a.m. while they were searching for a reckless driver. The accident took place in the 3600 block of South Loop 289. A vehicle driven by 42-year-old Ricardo Ferreyra was traveling west in the eastbound lanes when it collided with Taylor’s car, which was correctly positioned in the appropriate lanes.
Casualties and Injuries
Leland Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, Kirstin Gallemore, a 29-year-old passenger in the truck, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by EMS to University Medical Center for treatment. Ricardo Ferreyra also suffered severe injuries and was taken to Covenant Medical Center.
